News anchoring has no doubt been a male-dominated profession for many decades now.  But thanks to the few female journalists who dared to pave the way for others early on, it’s not surprising to see more and more women in front of the camera and behind the news desk, reporting the facts around the world to an information-seeking society in new, innovative ways.  In the UK, Charlotte Hawkins is a bright and shiny presence in the early morning on SkyNews.  Shira Lazar hops between gigs at CBS News, CNN, and FOX News in the US.  In Singapore, Otelli Edwards found her calling with Channel NewsAsia.  These three rising anchorwomen are not just pretty faces – they are part of a movement of women who are carrying information sharing into a new hemisphere.
